Propagation.
Propagating your own plants is a real thrill and a lovely way to engage with plants in a different way. Through different propagation methods you can increase your plant stocks for your garden or create plants to share with friends and family. If you are eager to learn I am happy to share my knowledge and guide you through this process. Or equally, if you would prefer to just enjoy the results, I’d be delighted to take on the task for you. Propargation techniques vary depending on the time of year and can include the following:
Growing from seed
Soft wood cuttings
Semi ripe cuttings
Harwood cuttings

Division

Soil care
Mulching – applying mulch will help to lock in moisture, reduce weeds, improve soil structure and add nutrients. It can also help by insulating plants roots against winter freezes. The most effective times of year to apply mulch are in the spring and in the autumn.
Creating and maintaining compost heaps - garden compost is amazing! Its full of beneficial microorganisms and, when added to your beds, borders and containers, will take care of your soil by improving its structure and increasing nutrient levels. Improved soil structure will help the soil to hold on to moisture, and it will reduce waterlogging and compaction. Nutrients are vital to plant health, boosting overall vigour of the plant, and promoting more fruits and flowers.
A compost system is a fantastic way to deal with garden waste. The waste materials rot down and then go back into the soil to benefit the garden. Its free and its sustainable!
